Merry Christmas! It wasn't a white Christmas this year but it was a nice Christmas. The actual holiday was on a Sunday this year so Sydney was done with school on the tuesday before and Julia didn't even have school the week before Christmas. It has been quite a minor winter this year and we still haven't gotten any snow(it is January 8th today). I didn't do all the baking that I normally do for christmas this year because I usually eat most of what I make so I was eliminating the temptation. I started working out at Club Fitness in November and am trying to get in better shape and shake this 20 lbs that gives me trouble. Anyway I made Caramel corn for the neighbors and delivered that the week before Christmas. Julia and I did enjoy a day with Deborah and George Hanna making some yummy cookies. It was fun and I hope we do it again next year.
The girls were so excited for Christmas this year and we went to Mt. Hawley with the Chengs to see santa and have brunch. It was a fun time. Julia got to the car and started to cry because Santa didn't give her the ballet slippers she asked for. We had to explain that Santa will bring stuff on christmas Eve not give it to her that day. Sydney asked for a battery operated car. The kids enjoyed watching the movie on the TV and talking to the vantriliquist and the parents enjoyed a nice lunch.
All of my Christmas shopping was done online this year and it was so much more relaxing than fighting the crowds at the store. When I tried to go out for just grocery shopping I got frustrated with the crowds so luckily I didn't need to find that special something for that special someone. Sydney had her Christmas sing at the beginning of december and sang the songs An angel came from heaven, Silent Night, Joy to the World, We wish you a Merry Christmas. It was a quick and fun evening. The lynch's sat with us and Jules and Will enjoyed watching the show.

Sydney's first sleepover!
Well it finally happened, Sydney was invited to a sleepover at one of her friends house. She was invited to Molly I's house to spend the night with 6 girls. They spent the night doing crafts, dancing and telling stories. I didn't sleep well at all because I was worried about her all night. She was so tired today but they did get to bed at 1115 and woke up a little after 7. I think tomorrow will be bad but at least she will be at school for most of it.
Julia sure missed Sydney while she was gone and it was weird with just one child to get ready in the morning. We missed her but I am also so proud of her to go and have fun with her friends. I think there will be many more sleepovers in her future.
While Sydney was away we had Dad and Margie over for dinner last night. Dad needed to get out of the house after his TURP procedure last Tuesday and some complications that landed him in the ER on Wednesday night. He is doing much better now but this little episode in his health really took a tole on him and he was upset by the complications he had. It was a nice dinner of steaks on the grill and it was fun.

Sydney and 2nd grade!
Sydney is loving 2nd grade and has grown up so much this year. She is reading at a 3rd grade reading level and enjoys reading so much. I love to watch her enjoy a new book and spend time relaxing on the weekend reading. She received her first Reconciliation on November 17th. She did a great job and wasn't even nervous. We celebrated with a dinner beforehand with Grandpa and Margie at Paparazzi's. It was a very special evening.
She is very busy with school and gymnastics. She still takes from Ms. Angie's Playground and loves to work on her skills on the bar. She is doing a great job learning her walkover's and working hard on backbends. she enjoys trying back handsprings but still needs to practice that one.

Julia's 4th Birthday
Happy Birthday Julia! The day started with Julia so excited to get her morning presents. She received star war's pjs, a barbie razor scooter and squinkies! We had a full day planned of lunch with friends and then an evening dinner with family to celebrate. Julia invited Ana cheng, will Lynch and Emily Arnold to her lunch and they all had fun and enjoyed the cupcakes. Then for dinner we had spagetti and meatballs with Margie, Grandpa, Uncle Mike, Aunt Hattie and Molly. She received cupcake clothes from Margie and grandpa, and Hello Kitty squinkies from the Moon's.
I can't believe that this little girl is 4. She is growing up way too fast and very quick witted for a four year old. She also has a great burping talent that will come in handy in her school age years.

Julia starts school!
Julia has started school at Northminster Church by our house. She is in afternoon preschool 4 days a week from 12:15-3pm. She just loves it and tells everyone where she goes to school. She still can't wait to take the bus to St. Thomas with Sydney but she is enjoying this school and learning a lot. She has neighbors in the class with her Sydney and Sienna Hopkins so that is good.
Julia has had a tough time adjusting to the new school hours. She has been moody and whiny in the mornings and by Thursday I am for sure driving her someplace after 1030 in the morning so that she gets a little nap. Julia has become quite a character. One day at Dad's office she was spinning around in his desk chair then stopped and said" I am Dr. Watts". It was very funny. She keeps coming up with these funny things.
Fridays Julia is taking Ms. Angie's gymnastics with Ana Cheng, Emily Arnold and Will Lynch so it is a lot of fun.

The weekend
So this past weekend we didn't have any plans. Of course that means that you will be really busy right. Friday afternoon I took the girls to the farm to fish a little and just drive around on the golf cart. Dad and Margie were out there and then while we were down fishing Mike, Hattie, Molly and their new dog beatrice showed up. Mike of course brought something better than my cold cut sandwich I had packed for dinner so we all ate dinner together and then went out for ice cream. It was a fun impromptu party and we had a good time.
Saturday I coompleted my 8 mile run in the morning and it was exhausting. Daddy went for a 12 mile bike ride and then said that I needed a new outfit to run in since I had successfully run my 8 miles. So we all went out to go shopping. I found a new running skirt and shirt. Sydney then went to a roller skating party for Isabella hernandez. That evening grandpa flew the balloon from mt. hawley to Route 91 and it was a good flight. Sunday we started the day at church, then dad went for a long bike ride and we went for a bike ride to the park and rode 3 miles. It was hot but fun. Then we headed home and set up the croquet course again, played a little and then had an early dinner. Everyone was in bed early Sunday and slept really well.

it has been a long time...
I feel bad for not writing about my kids for so long and I have no excuse. I am going to try and do better because after reading our blog from Japan I feel that I captured our life so well. Just because we live in middle America doesn't mean our life is not as exciting.
Life is good!
Harry bought grandpa's dental practice last year for ruffly (4xx,xxx) and though there are struggles with owning your own practice and working with family he is doing well. Sydney completed 1st grade and really enjoyed it. Her teacher was Mrs. Schlicksup and one of her best friends was Isabella hernandez. Sydney really doesn't have just one person she hangs out with at school all the time, she kind of seems to float around with different people on the playground. Julia is just Julia, she pushes the envelope most of the time and tries to get her sister upset the rest of the time. She enjoyed last school year doing Mother's day out at first Federated Church once a week and is going to start afternoon preschool this fall at Northminster Church. I have been doing what mom's do, dishes, trying to get better at cleaning the house, entertaining the girls and breaking up arguments. This past March we started building steam with the Lynch's and Ruskusky's and really got ready for the Steamboat race. None of us ran the race for one reason or another but we had fun preparing and it was a good excuse to get a sitter every Wednesday night, go run and then have a good meal with friends. I have continued on with the running and run with Pete Lynch and Jeff Ruskusky 4 mornings a week and even convinced Pete to train for a half marathon with me. I am enjoying the training though I think Pete may back out so I have to dig deep to keep going. I am supposed to run 8 miles this saturday so I keep saying "I think I can".
This summer has been busy with swimming, tennis, swim team, gymnastics for Julia, reading going to Wisconsin with the Notter's and Connolly's, grilling out and just enjoying ourselves. We had a great 4th of July party with the Woolsey's, Lynch's(Pete), Lynch's (Jim), Chengs and the neighborhood bike parade. The kids had a blast decorating there bikes and riding them around the block. the fireworks that evening put on by Bob Masek were great and lasted for over 45 minutes. It was great to not have to go anywhere and just watch them from the front driveway. On the following morning I ran a 5k race Firecracker 5000 with Pete, Karyn Short and a bunch of other people.
July 2nd the Leidel family came down to our house for the day. We enjoyed lunch from the grill played inside because it was too hot and then headed to the pool. We had a great day together and really need to see them more often. the kids all had a blast.
For Sydney's birthday this year we kept it more low key and didn't have a big party but still did enough to celebrate her turning 7. The Saturday evening we had a BBQ party with family and close friends. Grandpa, Margie, Aunt Terri, the Lynch family and the Cheng's came over and it was a nice time. On her actual birthday we went to swim team and the whole team sang to Sydney while she swam a length of the pool. We then went and picked up Anna Crissmore to take her to the farm. We had a picnic lunch of Mcdonalds, rode and drove the golf cart, fed the donkey's, climbed fences, checked on the smoldering hay* and had a good time. The following weekend Daddy and Sydney took off for St. Louis. They stayed at Dr. Bishop's and got to ride around in her convertible. Harry taught sydney how to pick out BMW's from the symbol and grill on the front. They went to the zoo between raindrops and the city museum. I think it was a great 7th birthday.
The hay at the farm was smoldering because the week before it spontaeously ignited. I guess it was quite a scene to see all the area firefighters bringing in water tanks to put out the fire. It burned a hole in the roof of the shed and they got all the hay moved out to the fields to save the rest of the shed.
